- Cluster, HUD and center display
- Built for
- EV drivers
- What I delivered
- HMI system, motion specs, theming
- Tools
- Figma, ProtoPie, Unity
Executive summary
An instrument cluster and head up display that reshapes information density by speed, so drivers see less as risk rises and more when parked.

The problem
Legacy clusters showed 40+ simultaneous signals regardless of context. Glance time exceeded the 2 second NHTSA guideline in 31% of tested tasks.
Research insights
- 1Drivers above 80 km/h only reference speed, nav next turn and warnings.
- 2Ambient color shifts were noticed 2.3x faster than icon changes.
- 3EV range anxiety peaked when range was shown as a number without context.
Constraints
Interactive prototype
This is the real cockpit running live. Drag the speed slider and watch the screen remove distractions as you go faster, switch Drive, Navigate and Climate in the dock, change drive modes, and try the braking warning.

What the driver sees right now
Each item has a priority from critical to nice to have. As speed rises the display drops the lowest priorities first, and a hazard leaves only what helps you brake.
Solution walkthrough
Speed tiered density
Four density tiers interpolate between parked, city, highway and alert states with spring eased transitions.
Range as a map
Remaining range shown as a reachable area ring on navigation instead of a bare number.
Token driven theming
One token set drives day, night and sport themes across three display sizes.
